Complete insight requires complex data
At Yellowtail Conclusion, we design, build, and manage data-driven tools that help people gain insight into their financial situation and make informed decisions. Often, this involves providing a complete picture of income, expenses, assets, and pensions. Delivering a tool that presents complex data from various systems in a clear way, including business rules that allow users to simulate scenarios, is exactly what we do best at Yellowtail Conclusion. But how do we realize that?
What do you want, and why?
IT projects often run over budget and schedule. This is usually because, during implementation, it turns out that the project scope doesn’t match what the client truly needs. That’s why we at Yellowtail Conclusion make sure we clearly understand the wishes of both the client and the target group early on. Our first questions to the client are: what do you want, and why? And: is your wish the same as that of the target group for whom we’re building the software? Do you think you know what your users want, or are you sure? With Yellowlab, we can test assumptions and research what a target group really wants. What do end users need to make their financial lives easier? This way, we ensure the software solves the actual problem.
A clear scope
Once we have a good grasp of the wishes, we define the project scope. Is what we’ve envisioned technically feasible? What architecture principles are at play? What laws and regulations must we consider? What are the ISO policy guidelines? What needs to happen “under the hood” to make the designs possible? How do we keep the output as simple as possible? How do we apply the client’s visual identity? A team of specialists works on these questions. Software architects and engineers assess how the IT landscape should be structured, UX experts design user flows, and not to be overlooked, a security expert ensures everything is safe. We do all this during what we call the “Discovery” phase. The fact that Yellowtail Conclusion has all the necessary disciplines in-house to build software and make data accessible makes our projects highly efficient. Of course, we do this together with our client—collaborating with their business expert, product owner, ISO officer, and management team.
Less is more
When the boundaries are clear, we provide a project cost estimate. Based on this, the client decides what we will (and will not) do. Then we get to work. To keep things as simple as possible, we integrate all necessary data sources into one portal and extract only the data needed to give end users accurate financial insight. We use VisionAI to help with this. Using only the necessary data not only makes things clearer for the end user, but also ensures systems are easier to maintain and operate faster. Less is more.
Independent of specific technologies or systems
Even on the back end, like in a pension portal, we keep things as simple as possible. We use CORD, a backend platform we developed ourselves that connects internal and external sources and systems. If a client switches to new sources, such as a different administrative system, the portal stays the same—we just adjust the connection. Since CORD is backend agnostic, or connectable independently, it’s both cost-efficient and sustainable.
Offering the best financial decisions
From the discovery/analysis phase through implementation, we work in an iterative process, constantly involving the client. Strong collaboration is key. For many clients, Yellowtail Conclusion staff feel more like ‘colleagues’ than suppliers. Furthermore, “simplexity”, keeping the output of a system as simple as possible, is a recurring theme in our projects. Whether it’s mortgages, pensions, or asset management, we want to make the best financial decision easier to make than the suboptimal one. We do that by simplifying complex data and presenting it in a user-friendly way.
On to new challenges
With new legislation and customer-specific needs, there are always new challenges ahead—and we’re eager to take them on. Yellowtail Conclusion’s result-oriented experts almost never say “no” and always look for what is possible. Thanks to this mindset and our close collaboration with clients, we continuously achieve great results that simplify people’s financial lives.
