On behalf of ABN AMRO, Yellowtail Conclusion developed the “How Dutch Are You?” Expat Tool in eight weeks for expats who are about to move to the Netherlands.

Customer journey for new expats

ABN AMRO aims to reach expatriates who are about to relocate to the Netherlands and introduce them to its financial services. Especially during times when many expats are moving to the Netherlands, it is crucial to connect with this international group and engage them with ABN AMRO. To achieve this, the ‘Expat Tool’ has been developed.

The idea behind this tool is to provide a brief customer journey where ABN AMRO assesses expatriates’ knowledge of Dutch customs and habits in a fun and accessible way. After completing the quiz, expats can further explore the opportunities offered by ABN AMRO.

The tool “How Dutch Are You?” is a short quiz that features six typical Dutch expressions. After providing an answer, participants are shown a video featuring expats who have lived in the Netherlands for a longer period, sharing their experiences and anecdotes.

This approach offers future expats a humorous and accessible way to receive several tips to help them with managing their financial affairs in the Netherlands. The focus is on highlighting the services provided by ABN AMRO.

The result

With the help of Yellowtail Conclusion’s concepting & design sessions and a tight schedule, the Expat Tool was developed within 8 weeks. It was ready well ahead of the first wave of incoming expats in 2021. The result is a fun and educational quiz with a distinctly Dutch look & feel. It’s not only enjoyable for expats but also for Dutch people.
