The Class
Swim4Brains is an initiative from Sander Pluijm and his friends, driven by personal experiences with acquired brain injury (ABI). Brain injury, whether caused by an accident, a condition like Parkinson’s, or dementia, completely disrupts lives. One in four Dutch people is affected.
The proceeds from Swim4Brains go to ‘The Class’: a reintegration program that helps young adults with permanent brain injuries rebuild their lives. This includes coaching, personal guidance, and, most importantly, regaining perspective on work and independence.
Swimming ahead together
Six colleagues from Yellowtail Conclusion are taking on the challenge: Max Goldman, Maarten Kranenburg, Judith van Pietersom, Robin Bouman, Joël Scholten, and Mark Leck. They’ll swim the course in relay, coached by Managing Director Edwin Lodder: “We’re participating actively because we believe in it,” Edwin shares. “Swimming is a powerful symbol: you only move forward if you move together. It perfectly reflects our tagline: ‘swimming ahead together’.”
Since January, the team has been training under the guidance of open water coach Fabiënne Brunet from Open Water Zwemschool. With wet suits, cold water, and endless laps ahead, their motivation has only grown. Head of Marketing Stefanie Kammeraad-Poelmann is also involved: “I’m mainly helping to shape the event and bring it to life inside and outside Yellowtail Conclusion. It’s great to already see the engagement from colleagues, friends, and family. I even convinced my own brother to be the skipper for this ambitious team.”
Not taken for granted
Our involvement in Swim4Brains fits seamlessly with our mission: building a financially resilient society. And for that, a healthy brain is essential. Every day, our colleagues rely on their brainpower to develop smart digital solutions. That’s not something to take for granted—exactly why we’re supporting this cause.
Our tagline, Swimming Ahead Together, takes on extra meaning during this event. We’re not only swimming ahead in technology but also in engagement and awareness.
Every contribution counts
Fundraising for Swim4Brains has begun. Team Yellowtail Conclusion aims to raise at least €8,750. Donations can easily be made, either to an individual team member or to the whole team. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference.
